Amisha Patel is a Gemini born on 9th June 1976 in Mumbai. Her parents are Amit Patel and Asha Patel. Actor Ashmit Patel is her brother. Amisha Patel is the grand-daughter of lawyer-politician Rajni Patel, who was also the Congress Committee President, Mumbai.

Her schooling was at Cathedral and John Connon High School, where she was the head girl. She left to Massachusetts to study economics at the Tufts University.

Amisha Patel is even known to have won a gold medal for her paper on economics. Amisha Patel worked for Morgan Stanley before trying her hand at acting in theaters with Satyadev Dubey’s theater group. Amisha Patel conflicts with her family were publicized as she took legal measures against them. She is dating director Vikram Bhatt.
After graduation Amisha Patel worked for a finance company and did occasional modeling. Amisha returned back to India and joined Satyadev Dubey's theatre and started acting in plays. Amisha Patel was spotted by Rakesh Roshan in a family party and signed her for "Kaho Na Pyar Hai" opposite his son, Hrithik Roshan. The film was the biggest blockbuster of the year and Amisha became a star overnight. After "Kaho Na Pyar Hai", Amesha did many films and all of them were unsuccessful at the Box Office except "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha", "Gadar" was a super hit film and gave new boost to her acting career.
Amisha Patel won many awards for her performance in Gadar. Besides acting in Hindi movies Amisha Patel also did four Telugu movies. Amisha Patel’s recent released film is" Bhool Bhoolaiya". Amisha Patel has recently signed a new film, directed by Kunal Kohli, which will also star Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee.

Amisha Patel would subsequently star in a number of films, most of which proved unsuccessful at the box office. However, her performance in the 2006 film Ankahee, received critical recognition, and she followed it with a supporting role in the hit Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007).
